Meet Bumpy!

Some of you may recall this post about bumpy I posted back in June...

Well since then there has been a new arrival....
Meet little Madeleine...my youngest model yet at 2 weeks! She wasn't sure about the camera in her face, but I persevered and she gave in ( just a little), and I was able to capture this little newborn and
all of her tinyness.
I couldn't choose between them... so I posted a few ...

beautiful......

Thanks mum and dad for letting me share her with the IFLY readers

friends with glass

It's handy having a friend who works in the glass industry. Thanks friend!
He came over the other night and installed this shiny blue glass on our wall. No more grease on the wall! Hooray! so easy to clean!
I thought the mix of blue and red looked like a retro throwback so the pics are a tad retro in style, but in real life it is a punchy seaglass blue. It's real puuuuuuuurrrrddddyy...

I freaken love friends and I freaken love the new glass.

I have alot of stuff on the bench. I like to call this practical clutter.

This is a more accurate representation of the colours...

yum... I love this combo.

One day when I live in a predominantly white house (dream) these bold splashes of interesting and homely colour will most likely creep back into my white interiors. Colour can be addictive and looks great against a white backdrop...

I feel another blog coming along... watch this space!

Office humour

We are in the process of making changes to our offices... it's not as easy as one would think to decorate an office.

At nights I have been trying to look at pictures of other peoples offices to get ideas for what kind of things are suitable... not too boring, yet not too personal....Whilst browsing through office decor blogs (yes they exist), I found these, which I thought were really clever...

The lamps would certainly be a good ice breaker in awkward meetings...

Surely having a bedroom like this would brighten any gloomy day...
It certainly inspired me to fill the house with colour and flowers to counteract the gloom outside my windows last week...

This is a little girls room made from all sorts of thrifty finds and clever ideas. You can read more about the room here... what makes me like this lady even more is that she is a great photography inspiration for me..

Meanwhile, we just got some basic flowers from the supermarket yesterday and put them around the house... it makes spring feel that wee bit closer...

So much to love...

There is something absolutely delicious about a chubby baby.
There is so so much of this little guy to love... those big blue eyes, and soft rolls of lovliness... he is so adorable, and super chilled.
He started walking since these photos were taken....he's so proud of himself. Now he can keep up with his older brother and sister.
Happy first birthday baby Noah.

Do you have a spare 5 and a half minutes?

My talented husband put this video together from our road trip last year in America. This was the middle part of our trip from Vegas to Colorado. I feel a bit bad for telling him off at the time for not having enough "people" shots.

I'm like my mum when it comes to photos and videos... people only like to look back on the ones with faces in them so you can laugh at "that haircut" or "those pants"... and your kids can look and say - woah check dad out with long hair and a beard! and mum, your hair was white and short, what the hell?! yes kids... we were young once...

So... with this "people in photos rule" in mind, I was becoming increasingly annoyed as the road trip went on saying "who the hell is going to want to watch a video of the road...boo-rrinnnnng..." , and thinking of our poor family and friends who would be forced to sit and watch this.

So I started sabotaging his panning shots by running through them. Yes, I am a dork. Without the soundtrack you would hear the same phrase many times "get out of my shot, you're ruining it".

So this is a public apology to my husband, the artist, for not trusting in his vision - which I personally think is awesome! I can watch this video on repeat, it captures so much from the drive and I get to re-live it all over again.

The scenery changed so frequently, as you can see in the video... and the roads were so straight, you could pull over and run down the middle of the highway without worrying about oncoming cars... you could see them... ten minutes away!

So without any further ramblings... here is the video. (you need sound and I suggest you make it full screen)

A little black for your board

We went to this nice little restaurant on Friday night with friends...I was not disappointed with my decision to skip a main meal and just order a platter of french cheese, bread and meat. For under $25 I was temporarily transported back to Paris. Magic. Needless to say I will return.

But this isn't a restaurant review...

The interior of the restaurant was painted black and adorned with watercolours of french landscapes, ornate mirrors and subtle chandeliers. What I liked in particular was the way they used the black walls to write the wine lists and specials. I know this concept isn't new , but since I had this folder of "black boards" in my database, it came to my attention and I decided to write a blog about it today..

It reminded me of this image - which I love...

ok this next pic - perhaps not as stylish as some of the ones prior, but I thought it was really quirky. It would work well in an a holiday house where different people are coming and going all of the time. It's nice for people to know where things are, and where to put them back... ahhhh organisation...

Another example of cupboard labelling...

The only issue I have with this interior decorating concept is chalk dust.... You would need to do some serious vacuuming every time you changed the picture... and I hate vacuuming.

Resene sell this paint in smallish tins (I think 1L) - it's a tad pricey, but  you could always
share a can with a friend...
